Camp Galilee

#1 Post by grabbingears03 » Wed Apr 10, 2013 5:09 pm

This is my first race at Camp Galilee and haven't ridden there before. I think I might be going this weekend but I have no idea what the terrain will be like :?: . If anyone could tell me that would help. :D

Thanks

Search "hare scramble camp galilee" on you tube. There are a few vids that should give you a good feel for the course.

Rocky in some areas and much more typical MO type terrrain. Somewhat similar to Eagle Ranch and Walter's Ranch but smaller, less elevation changes and a little less rocky in some areas. You will know you are not in Kansas Toto!

Thanks that gave me a pretty good idea of what is there. Sure hope it is not like walter's ranch when it is muddy with foot deep ruts, sometimes bigger, and raining. I was there the 2013 walter's ranch mhsc race and it was miserable. Sounds like camp galilee will be a blast!

I rode the MHSC course at Walters Ranch last weekend, thanks to whoever left those course arrows up. Those ruts were impressive, you don't normally see ruts that deep at Walters.

I heard from a good source that the course will be all new this year so no ruts. That is unless it rains during the race and they make new ones.

Word is the MORE race left some ruts, hoping they can find some fresh ground for the FM guys. Sat and Sun look to be great days, so everyone bring your knobbies and be preparred to use them.

They deffinately left some ruts on the course, I ran the short course jr. Class and by then it was pretty muddy and rutted. The more series does a B style race format all the time so the pro's chewed it up even more. They had some cool sections though, the start was in a field and then when you got done with the field they bottlenecked you into a stream so that kind of stunk. (That part was really rutted up). Then you went about a quarter of a mile and did this part where you rode down the creek, then you went into this side hill rock challenge, after a ways you went up a steep rock climb that was pretty challenging but was doable. After that there were mostly nice flowing trails with some rutted up creek crossings and small but steep rock climbs. All in all the course was a blast and I had a lot of fun, can't wait for next weekend, but deffinately hoping for fmhsc to change the course, so it is not so rutted up.
