Trying to shut down Grain valley...

Any one who can attend this meeting Monday evening should try to do so. I know this has come up a few times before, but we are looking at losing yet another riding spot in the KC area if we don't stick together here. Help spread the word, do what you can or we all may lose...

So some of the homeowners and housing additions dont like the noise of the racetracks and want them shut down. There is a meeting at grain valley city hall monday at 6pm to discuss the issue. Any and all in favor of the track should really try and attend!!!!!!!!!

It would appear that the new City administrator is targeting Valley Speedway. Here is a communication that was sent out from the home owners association that has been trying to shut down the race track:



Also, the new City Hall Manager would like to invite GV residence to attend the Monthly City Hall meeting May 13th to voice their dislike and concern with the speed race track noise. Our new City Manager is surprised that this has gone on so long and there appears to be some city ordinance regarding noise levels, that should never have allowed this to go on. Call City Hall for a meeting time.



The race track has not been notified of this meeting by the city. I'm not sure where this is going to go but if you can attend this meeting and show your support. This effects the car track, sand drag, and the MX track.



The city manager told me she gets complaints everytime we race and she is tired of the calls. If you don't have time to come to the meeting and calls is what they like then lets start calling them and let them know the benefits of a race track and let them know how much money you spend in Grain Valley while you are at one of these race facilities. If you call be professional and courteous, we do have friends on the council. A lot of our teams and fans come from out of town and stay in the motels and shop in Grain Valley while they are here, call them and let them know.



The meeting is tomorrow night at Grain Valley city hall at 6 pm. Make your calls are before the meeting if you are unable to attend.

How did the meeting go? Wasn't able to make it.

Here is what they posted thus far. It isn't over but sounds somewhat positive:

The meeting went well. The racers and track supporters filled the place!!!!! You could count the homeowners against it on one hand. the city council is going to do some research on the 65 db limit that is on the track and see if it is even realistic. Now keep in mind normal conversation at when you are at your favorite place to eat is 60 db. and so is background music. Most of the time your tv or radio is at 70 db. so I'm guessing when they do their research and contact other cities they will find this number is to low.

the research I've done show most cities have put a 95 - 100db limit on race track close to the city. the track is California are at 95db at a 100ft. and Dave you lived in Cali, they are strict as hell on everything!!!!!

Sound intensity falls off with distance,so a decibel level without a specified distance from the source is meaningless. I would bet the level at the landowners house is less than 65 db.I would also bet that they wouldn't be able to hear the race if they were mowing their yard.
