Re: warrensburg race reports
Wow I got my fill - of the all the racing and all the dust. Great fun indeed!
One heck of a hard push to Dan on Friday, Saturday and Sunday working long hard days to getting it done. Thank you my good man!
Thanks to all! The ladies in the trailer who get us checked in and keep the back up sheets going, the sweepers, the helpers, the setter uppers, the taker downers, buddy dog, the trophy picker uppers, and the land owners...THANK YOU!
One more thing, I agree and thank all the strategically placed sweepers and workers as they slow us down or help getting us going in the correct direction. HOWEVER, I really think most folks are clueless that pick out a nice spot just inside the woods so they can hang out in the shade and watch - I get that. But when you understand that we are racing as fast as we can go and still make a turn (or sometimes NOT) and ad in a little fatigue and dusty goggles and Houston we have a problem. There are times when I am actually startled by a bystander standing less than 36" from the track - just inside the tree line and my eyes haven"t adjusted to the shady darkness yet and I freak out on a bright colored shirt and turn my head to look and one bad bounce from getting up close and personal with a stranger. I like the folks who get close and watch and root for the riders, but for crying out loud hide next to or behind a tree! By the time you realize I'm out of shape and your in danger it's already too late AND if my eyes are fixed on you ...well we all know where the bike is headed.
Guys and gals...the dust plain scared me that's all. I rode through it several times locked on Wade dog, Leaderhouse, Ed Morris and others I know. One second I'm polishing their rear tire with my front wheel and the next second I can't even see my number plate....OK...bad example cause I usually can't make it one lap with a number plate still on board, but still when someone actually vanishes for several seconds and your pinned - well if you aint scared your stupid. I just want to poke the side liners and let em know that they are not wearing any protection like we are.
Ok I'll step down off my soap box now.
My 2 cent$

Yep, I'm an idiot. Seems pretty clear when you actually read the post!! Sorry, it was my first time working and my worst fear was getting in people's way. Re: warrensburg race reports
Saturday - Got a great start! Held 4th all day and was feeling great. I didn't pay the tire troll at Drexel and the troll took his toll and blew out the rear......again.....so I finish the 5th lap and pull off. I just couldn't hand over my coveted 4th I had worked so hard to hang onto all day, so of course I bet the farm that I could hold it on a flat rear tire and tease ol Slomojo and Wadedog about it for years as they were behind me! I blaze out with my weight way out on the front so as the rear tire would flip and change sides (as it often did) I could keep it up and keep going. I too went to the learn math while riding school and figured out that if my 2 schoolmates were maintaining race pace I couldn't hold my position but if they were farting out or had issues then 4th could be mine. As I got almost done on the 6th the unthinkable happened...the white flash...the 1034....then the 1062 number plates whizz by at unimaginable speeds....almost sickening...Well folks if they wanted it then then had to take it me....and that's just what they did...
Great job to Wadedog and Joe for sticking it out all the way to the end as it aint over till it's over... (it does still sting a little, doc says to stop doing burnouts on Joe's picture in the garage and I should start to be getting better....
Warrensburg 2
Before I could even adjust to losing to 2 of my com-padre's on day one and realize I'm out for Sunday's show because I shredded my rear tire limping along for 1 1/2 laps, the Thomas Brother's Racing boy's found a free 18" take off and tube, mounted it and got the bike back on the ground. WOW! I'm racing Sunday! COOOL!
Great start I'm hanging with the pizzaman but go down on that greasy log on the right side of the easy crossing. I was way too high of gear and just got sideways and fell over into 6" of cold muddy water. The harder I tried to get up the more I slipped up. Once again The Thomas Brothers Racing clan sent out Bill. He crosses and parks at the top of the hill (while racing - not sweepeing I might add) and comes walking down and helps me push this slimy greasy 2 wheeled slippery slimy slug out. I"m gone like the wind....got time to make up....riding fast...still a little tired but pushing on... Target acquired...I found the Wadedog. Followed for at least 1 1/2 laps. He is very clean, very patient rider. I was going to show him what the Husky could do in that straight but I ended up being happy to to tag along for the ride. We wore ourselves out having ridden the prior day and he fell prey to the cramps I'm guessin. He let me by and I kept it going as best as I could. Left leg cramping hard and left clutch hand solid as granite....kept going. I came up on a bad crash with guys around and I wasn't in full control and knew if I stopped I was done so I cut hard right away from stuff so as not to hit anybody. (I found out it was Dan and Grayson and regretted not stopping...I'm sorry little buddy) Came in 3rd and stuck it. Beat the Wadedog by a whisker.
We celebrated WireFryer's injuries with his shrimp on the barbie - by the way did you know that Tim knows everything there is to know about the shrimpin' bin-ness? The Thomas Brother's Racing set up the new configuration on my handle bars and secured my front number plate so that if it ever comes off now that when I awaken I will surely be in the hospital...ie - it is NOT coming off. By the way the number plate once again found it's way back home only this time I had to pay the ransom....2 chocolate chip cookies! I had to put them in a brown bag over by the trash can and couldn't call the police!
Thank you to the dude who gave me a chanch to race Sunday! I tried to call on you by talking to Steve Stickney and Devon Turley who you were camped next to but I want to thank you here! THANKS!!!!!!
Good times - great folks. I felt like a dirt bike... two tired....
Congrats to Scott Georgen for getting his picture in the Drexel paper racing on his bike and his 1st place win on Saturday!

Re: warrensburg race reports
Hay sues!.. I go several Seasons with only scratches from hedge and locust trees, and outa' nowhere crawl home from this one with tail firmly between legs, black-n-blue all over, and counting my lucky stars I eat enough cheese every month to clog an Alabama sewer plant! .
Up at 4am Saturday, load up and roll. All my usual ride-along buds are otherwise conflicted, so it's a solo tour this round.
Show up and encamp at the Shredder/Superfast compound in the shin-high pit grass. While not a real problem, I wish I'd brought my lawnmower instead of my chainsaw.
Line up for the start, get the count to the 700 club and off we go... right into a dusty mess, I made a brilliant move to the North then wasted it when I paused at just the right time to let half the field go by.
The rest of my race Saturday was a comedy of errors, not being on the bike since Big Springs, I hate dust, ect.
My third lap at about mile 1.5 a 900 on a Kawi is stopped at the approach of the hard creek shot trying to get 20 feet of barbed wire out of his back wheel so I drift right and don't quite have the steam to clear the top, high side it till' a tree tries real hard to break my L. arm... thus stopping my fall .
I've seen those big, ugly goose-eggs on other riders elbows but have never enjoyed one personally... they suck! Your arm will still function, to a point, but is done for at least a few hours because it's in a state of shock.
Saturday evening proved pleasant with good cooking, great weather, and good company. I did my usual roam of the pits and renewed more than a few friendships. Shredder provided a place in his hauler for me to crash that was wolf spider free(inside joke!).
Sunday Morn we all feast on BuddyDogs biscuits and gravy and hit the gate again, oddly the only way I could tell on my GoPro was the fact we had cloud cover on day 1 .
I'm battered and just not feeling racey in any way, shape, or form. The start is a dusty mess, I just want to punch this one out and roll home.... then we hit the hillclimb.
I had let 1018 by in the grass track and then let 10---(92? KTM) by in the creek just before we rolled up to the Wattsy hillclimb, he hits it and just BOMBS!
I could say something.... but I ain't.
We both made it....but we both probably lost some hearing in the process.
Had to watch my vid this afternoon, but at lap 3 I am getting out of a Juniors way when I scrub a fat Locust tree and grenade my left foot.
Film will never capture what happens in reality .
A nice chunk is black as midnight in a mineshaft, but good boots saved the rest of it.
Big thanks to the Landowners!
I also have to say that both shows had an Outstanding array of Scoring Help and Sweep Riders!

Re: warrensburg race reports
Well I had summer class on Saturday, so I had to miss out on all the fun. You know how hard it is to pay attention in class, when your brother is racing?
Sunday was... Fun, Fast, and Dusty!
After a decent start, I finally caught the leader 78, on what I thought was the last lap. When I got around him, he really put it on me for the rest of that lap. When we came through scoring only to get another lap; I was less then excited! And did I mention a freshly trimmed locus tree branch right before scoring almost took my head off? Blew my goggle lens out of the frame, and gave me a nice black and bloody eye. Maybe it was a Rambo style punji stick... It was just right for a tall guy. I thought about stopping, because I could feel something running down my face, but I could still see... soo....
Weird thing is after the race my wife pulls out a long hair from the dried blood. I dont have long hair???
That was some fun racing! You know you had a good day when you pull the filter out of your bike after a dustfest like that and it looks fresh!
Was it just me, or was someone's bike running before the board dropped at the start? Maybe just the row behind us...

Re: warrensburg race reports
This was my second time doing a Hare Scramble, first being Drexel on the 4th and I am loving it. I thank all who put in so much to make these happen. I have never put my body and bike through so much hell and then woke up the next day sore as can be and say I cant wait to go do it again, but I do with this. I ran the 900 class and finished in the top 30% in both my races but not without being thrown over my bars, running into trees, or just stopping for a quick breather thinking I need to get in shape. My goal is to move up to the Sportsman class next season.
Was there anyone taking photos at this event?

Sure Brock, my wife is always shooting pics. Whats your number and I'll see if she got anything. I did see a lot of folks taking pics in the woods so hopefully the pros were out in full force because they take awesome photos. I think we have the best races coming up so hang on!

I spoke with RJ Reynolds in our class after the show and he mentioned that he was having starting problems with his Kawi and barely made the start line in time.quik406 wrote: Was it just me, or was someone's bike running before the board dropped at the start? Maybe just the row behind us...
He left it running, but did the right thing and let everyone hit the first turn before leaving the start line .

Funny. Sitting there watching you guys wondering what was going on. Hey Dennis thanks, its 930... I am aware of some of the companies doing photos for MX but not HS so any help would be great. Oh and I am excited to get in a few more races in before my weekends start getting sucked up when my boy starts back into MX, (broken leg at this time).
