Final race decisions to make. Govt. Shutdown Woes!

#1 Post by Iamdanjohnson » Fri Oct 11, 2013 8:33 am

So the governement is shut down and among those thngs is the Milford riding area. That race is still one week away but I really don’t like the uncertainty of not knowing if we will have it. I will complete the plaque order today so they can ship on Monday but I really don’t know if I should put Milford Lake on them.

I have checked with several locations to see if we might have an option for a back up plan. Most of those have not been available on such short notice. I like to always put everything out for everyone to know about as it is OUR series and not MY series.

The first idea would be to just drop this one and only have 13 races. I think we are all having too much fun with the perfect last few races to ever choose that option though.

The second idea would be to just postpone Milford until November 10th, but we would not be know until this coming Friday. Not crazy about running the season that late but we have done it in the past. The late start this year kind of helped push us so late in the season and stack the last three races.

The third idea makes the most sense fundamentally but I am not sure it will go over well. I could just go to El Dorado Springs a day early and get that place set up for a two day. That would keep cost down for racers and for me as well with one less drive. I don’t know that the two race format is all that popular and we need to have that discussion soon as well. Last year the turn out was only about 70 riders per day. I would consider running it the easy way both days just to help keep interest up. I think I could mix it up just a little bit and make it different enough. Heck, running it the exact same wouldn’t be just horrible, it would be kind of like a do over in case you had a bad Saturday.

So, thoughts, ideas, reflections??? Please share with the group and tell us how this makes you feel!

If you prefer to keep it lower key, PM me or email at ktms@fmhsc.com

I have to work on 10/26. Our trip to celebrate 20 wonderful years with my wife begins on 11/9.

Given the above, I vote we drop Milford
