Chanute race reports - too hot to handle?

First I would like to say I really enjoy the guys in my class. Its all fun and games and have made this year fun for me.

Shredder I am not a great reader you need to shorten those novels up some. lol

My race started out dead last. Me and the old guy Tom Brunholtz 1035 had trouble with our bikes starting but at least we were on the line ready to go Shredder. I couldn't help but saying that. So I am dead last, right were the gibber wants me to be, but I ended up in 4 place coming through the timer on the first lap which I have no idea how I ended up there. Second lap was going good and was really enjoying the track when the control of my bike just wasn't there anymore. I have a rear flat tire and my day was done. Came in 10th place pulled over and watched the rest of the race with shredder wife. Nice lady.

I will see you in Therman Iowa in a couple weeks ready to go.

Hey, my 2 favorite riders are ME and anyone out in front of Joray! LOL. Not saying anything I'm just sayin'! Shredder falls in there somewhere too.

Seriously. I agree with John. What a great class. I am having a blast this year and I think Dan has done a great job putting the whole thing together. Speed, riders, where we start, the whole thing. I like the fact that we are fast enough to hold our own against the class behind us so I am not getting run over by the second lap and we are not blowing out the class in front of us.

The guys are great too. Well except for Todd #1063 who keeps rubbing my fenders all race long!!!! It's been really cool to visit with all of you after the races and puff our chests like we were kids again as well as building each other up. I hope I can keep this up for a long time.

Its always good to go to the races and shoot the bull with the guy's. And I might add its good to be back home for a while. Even though I didn't ride the 40+ train I still had as much fun following #1109 Wyat That boy can ride and I might add he is tough as nails. I watched him move over for a faster rider and catch his tires on opposite sides of a log..... He rode that KTM at least 10 feet grinding that tree till a limb caught him and air mailed him over the hangers. He gets up without complaining just wanting to ride. Way to go buddy I can't wait to ride with you again.
As for the 40+ fellas..... LETS TALK THURMAN!

First let me say that the track was awesome and thanks to everyone that put this race together... I had a good start second right behind Jeremy. Spent the first lap eating his dust as he put a gap on me and the rest of A class. Second lap Ryan got around me after a small tip over and he ran away while I saw his dust. I was riding In third with joray not far behind felt really good until half way through my 4th lap in a tight section I saw nothing but dust and my front end hopping out of a rut with through me into a stump and I went over the bars pretty good. Took me a second to get up After I get going joray was right there and I realized my front end was tweaked bad enough it was impossible to go straight. So that was the end of the race for me, the track was awesome! And congrats to jeremy for another win!

This place has always been one of my favorites I just wish for once it wasn't 100 degrees and dusty but nothing we can do about that! I was a little nervous going into this one not sure how my suspension was going to act on the new bike! I was third off the start and ate Remys dust the first lap and a half til he made a mistake that allowed me to get by, I tried to relax catch my breath and gear up to make a charge on Jeremy but Remy was still all over me so I just had to go! I was slowly closing on Jeremy til I got one glimpse of him through the trees and it was on! As soon as I got close though he dropped the hammer and I tried to chase him blindly but never could get any closer than what I was at the beginning of the last lap. By the end of it I was glad it was cut short my hands hurt so bad by the end of it from trying to hold on through the chop with stiff suspension. Thanks to the land owners and dan and the crew for yet another great race, ready for Thurman!

@Shredder--They say a picture is work a thousand words. I would say that is a minimum. I saw that and figured you were praying for the checkered flag.

@Wadedawg--Wyatt had a blast. Thanks again for escorting him.

As for me, I had a miserable day. I was sure that I had drained my carb the last time I rode. Apparently not! I started the race with a plugged pilot jet and it was all down hill from there. Bike stalled at the first river crossing. I decided to wait and see how Wyatt faired with it. He took it no problem. After he went through, I got the bike refired and away we went. At about 5 miles the bike died again. I got to watch Wyatt pass me back again. After 25 minutes fighting it I finally got the bike started with some help, (Thanks) and finished the lap and called it a day. It was really agrivating. I loved the way the track flowed. I was feeling really good and I think I could have laid down some good lap times. Hats of to the Taylors. You've got a lot of awesome trails. I just wish I could have had a chance to really run them. Kudos also to Dan and everybody else that put this race together. I look forward to coming back next year

Aaron that is a bummer to have a bike problem at a great place like the Taylor's have. I know well the sting of a bike issue. The problem with experience is that we have to pay first and get the lesson after.

Chris Locke's wife took that pic of my dump. She is a talented photographer, It is not easy to get to know your equipment, set up in a good spot and keep firing away to get that money shot. She has many great pictures of many rider's and that is not easy.

I missed the start so I ended up "forcing it in" instead of relaxing and settling in. I actually had 5 significant come - off's that day. one dusty front end wash out, two end - uh oh's where a ditch ate my front wheel (same place, same ditch - two different times - don't ask), two rear wheel no braking issue dumps - one of which got on camera.

It actually does look like I'm praying for the checkered!
