Resched: 3/28/15 School Creek (Milford) Clean-Up Day

#1 Post by blister » Sun Feb 08, 2015 9:35 pm

A fellow rider here in the Manhattan area asked me to post the below information regarding a planned work day at School Creek ORV Park. This is the riding area that our 3/22/15 race is located the week before. Chad

Luc has organized a trail cleanup day on 3/28/15 at School Creek. Could you please post it up on FMHSC. Here's the low down. Thanks!

Saturday March 28th start time at 10:00 am

If you have ever been to school creek or any other park for that matter and enjoyed the trails, you have been able to do so thanks to lots of work from a few volunteers. As a riding community, I believe that it is our duty to give back so that we can keep on enjoying this great privilege and those great riding areas!

In November of 2013 we had a good clean up at School Creek, there was a similar event this fall at Perry Lake and we figured it was probably time to go back to school creek. As usual, it is hard to get everybody on the same page and I checked with a few people and the weekend of the 28th of March seems like it would work for most.

Kim mentioned that a lot of work was needed on the north side where a lot of the older trails less used have been overgrown and could use a good clean up, so let's make it happen and if the weather looks like anything we had today, we'll be able to put some good riding in at the end of the day!

We need to make sure that the word gets out, if you are member on other forums where people are users of those trails, please pass the word.

Please RSVP as I have found a sponsor for lunch and will need a head count for food. You can RSVP by indicating your plans here on this thread.

Cycle Zone is being very generous and are helping us make this event a success! They are donating some nice door prizes!

Chad,

I'm going to try to be there. Long ways for me to go but what the heck. I may bring the family out for the day. Will also see if I can muster up some riders to go with me. You know how persuasive I can be!

You da man, Gibber. I'm sure the organizers will be very appreciative. I still haven't even got a look at my calendar to see if I can be there, yet. I will be if at all possible. I'll let you guys know later.

Trail maintenance is an ongoing activity....feel free to contact me when you'd like to "take a turn" to giving back to a FREE riding area at any time not just organized events such as this. We can always use the help.
Thank You

Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming... "WOW! What an incredible ride!"
