I just wanted to get the word out so folks could plan for July 4th. Various landowner issues have to be resolved to run the race again. These issues cannot be worked out for a race this year but it is still possible the race will return.

I have a few ideas of how to replace this race but it will not be on that weekend. I will expand on that later but don't have all the details in place yet. I had considered adding a race in on June 28th but that weekend may now have to be used for making up Beer Ranch West.

One option is to just reduce the total races by one but where is the fun in that.

Hopefully the race will be back!! Not only one of my favorites but the kids looked forward to going back this year!! It looks like this year is just trying to test our patients!!

This is so sad to hear. This would have been the 8th year for the event. Scott Harper and I along with many of Drexel’s fine residents worked hard to make the inaugural event happen for 2008. I can remember after the first event how happy the Lions Club was with all of the food sells and people who paid to swim, car wash sales, ice, etc. More recently Chuck Martin has stepped up and continued the event and not being afraid to not make a profit. He has continued because of his kids and the community….. It is unfortunate, as in so many cases, one individual can cause the downfall of so many others.
I hope the good citizens of Drexel and the surrounding area can come together for a solution.
It is sad to see such a family fun event go away all while celebrating the birth of the United States of America. …….dirt bikes, food, friends, community, fireworks…..how American is that!
