To be honest Mike, I don't know how you ride 100 yards on any kind of flat tire at Walters let alone a complete lap. The 700 gods may not be able to help us if you step up to Mousse Tubes!

BTW. Those of us from last season's Vet 40 class know what the infamous Orangecrush is capable of once he gets it dialed in. I wouldn't be writing him off just yet. I know I'm not! 8) After talking to him this weekend I am willing to bet he will be a force to be reckoned with at Virgil City. I plan on working on trails there this weekend and a day or 2 before the race so I hope to be able to apply a little course knowledge and increase my odds of jacking with you top 5 guys. Still not convinced I'm a 700 rider but I'm gonna give it a hell of a go. I do think the level of intensity is up a notch or 2 from the Vet 40's. But I haven't made up my mind if that is good or bad! :? I know you guys are gonna make me faster but doesn't that just mean I will be going that much faster when I "DO" wad it up?! :o

Well, we hope to beat the rain and knock out some trail maintenance and see about reversing the course at Virgil City (Camp MO PO) this weekend. I know Todd is still looking for help so feel free to reach out to him. I'm sure he would even welcome the 700 club members!

Let's keep the reports coming. They're starting to get juicy!

P.S. Jerad, I enjoyed the video. Man you guys are fast!

To be honest the only reason I was able to is because I run a Tubliss system. I think the tire would have been wrapped around the swing arm after 100 yards without it. The problem was I was running a Kenda equilibrium (trials with wide spaced knobs). I think the side wall and crown is way to thin if your running the Tubliss. It's more subseptible to punctures. It had about a 1/4 inch puncture right between the knobs. I think the key to the tubliss is running a tire with a heavy side wall that way if it goes flat you can still ride.

I didn't mention in my ride report that I actually tried for a fourth lap. That's when Gibber and Ryan passed me. I was just trying to get back to the pits at that point. That was a mistake to try that. I was lucky I made it back. The tire continued to get worse as the side wall totally gave out.

Btw only kidding about orangecrush. When he was in front of me he had me worried for a bit. He was on a rail, and the Milford thing wasn't his fault.

Ryan and Gibbs played the game right! Just make it to the end and see what happens!! I was in fourth for the first two laps and not catching a glimpse of anyone ahead or behind me...had me worried I was on the wrong course! Then I made a mistake and stalled my bike on top of the hill coming out of the creek and when I went to restart it I fell! I'll be damned if I could do anything but stand there and wave at Ryan and Gibbs as they ride by.

I managed to get back on track and pass them both again, at one point I could just make out Crush's helmet in the woods...then Gibbs decided to go all arenacross on my and park on my foot till my bike died!!! I heard an evil laugh as he wheelied away to!!! No actually I could see in his eyes that he was sorry and he did pause just long enough to say sorry. I tried to battle back but it was my bad leg from last year's surgery and I just couldn't keep up. Then right at the end of my third lap my front tire went down. I thought I could finish the race but after a couple more sloppy get offs decided to pull off before I did some serious injury! The good news is I'm not racing the Off road Cup this year so I plan on resting my knee till Virgil then trying it once again!!!

If nothing else there is always one hell of a battle going on in the middle of the 700 pack!! And it was a BLAST!

I'm sure glad Gordo still has his sense of humor. If anyone knows him he is a pretty big guy and I had about 2 1/2 laps to think about getting my you know what kicked when I got back to the pits!

Worse thing is I would have beaten him without running over his foot!!!

Shoot! Did I say that out loud? :?

Well anyway, Gordo is right. Turns out the best racin' in the 700s is in the middle of the pack! After all, that "is" where all the charm and personality is! :D

Gibbs your a 700 rider. Todd is the only Vet rider to do better than you overall. You yourself would have been too fast for the Vet 40 class. Your speed is picking up, give yourself some credit. Just think this is only the second race. By the end of the season you will be moving up again.

Warning to all, if someone comes up behind me and pins me to my bike as I am trying to regain my balance, so can move on. Like what happened at Milford. I will just take a seat on your bike. If I am not going anywhere, neither are you.
I'm just saying and I ant playing.

0h orangecrush you have the facts all wrong again. The notion that I rode up behind you after the fact is inaccurate. No one came up from behind and pinned you to your bike. I was actually at your left the whole time. My front fender was at your side. The other rider crashed on the up hill and YOU veered to the left and pinned ME against the embankment. We were stalled there waiting for the crashed rider to move and you then lost your balance and fell on my bike. I was about to pull your bike off when the spectator jumped in and helped. I'm not saying it's your fault, buts that's how it actually went down.

And I have the GoPro footage to prove it.

Careful Orangecrush. That GO PRO footage can be very painful! Remember last season?

Besides, 4-10-16 will be another opportunity to get handle bar to handle bar. And there are plenty of tough sections too. Maybe I will have my helmet cam replaced by then. Should be fun.

Mike explain the pass I did on you. Before I get it all wrong. Well here's my version.

I put my front fender on your side just to let you now I'm coming around soon.

Thanks for letting me pass by without any more contact. Didn't want to pass you like I did on Bill and Gibbs last year.
