Taylor Farms Chanute track, what's it like?

How does the Taylor Farm track compare to say Milford/Big Springs/Melvern/C-Dale? Was thinking if the temps are reasonable I may do it. I raced a couple of Chanute races many years ago but have no idea if it was on TAylor Farm ground.

Last year was awesome my favorite of the year. Fast, fun & no dust with a sweet creek crossing thrown in there. Similar to Melvern & Big Springs, I'd say. Load the bike and support the Land Owner & Forward Motion + eat Shane "Capt'n hole shot" Weimer's dust with us into the trees. :lol: Should be a few videos from last year on youtube.

...so...how does it handle water...? Forecast for Sunday is exceptional, but Friday's looking a little wet...

And no, I'm not even sure why I'm asking!? I started my KTM on Monday for the first time since....late March (!!), I think I hurt myself kicking it (imagine - battery went dead in "only" 5 1/2 months?!? :wink: ), but for some reason I am feeling the sudden urge to finally make use of the "541" I've had on the bike for a year and a half...

I mean, somebody's gotta bring up the rear, right? :lol:
If it's got 2 wheels, I wanna ride it!

Up until an hour ago, we were the driest we've been nearly all summer. The south pits were mowed a week and half ago and the old pit area north of the house on the hill was mowed and baled Monday. Currently the weather is calling for clear on Saturday and Sunday. Depending on rainfall we may have to use the north hill to pit. Unfortunately this will be our last race if the weather permits. I need to reclaim the pastures, clear all the brush and put up more fences, as my cattle herd grows. We currently move all of the cattle off of the place for the race and bring them back afterwards.

As for the race, we have a food vender that is supposed to be there. I'll also have three bikes for sale at the race, a 2006 Honda CRF250X, 2006 CRF230, and a 2004 CRF50F.

Hope we end with a bang and have a good turn out. It's been fun, and we appreciate everyone we have met the last seven years.

That demon sure is talking awfully persuasive-like to me.... :twisted: However, I must clarify that right AFTER I hurt my hip kicking over my cobweb-covered 200cc, I moved/limped on over to dusting the collection of pedal-powered 2-wheel garage decorations... :roll:

Yeah, who knew after reaching the best fitness in my life @ age 43 I'd be in the "softest" shape, ever, just 3 years later...?? :cry:

Oh well...Jeremy's sped-up video does make it look like a pretty fun place to race! I mean...ride. Well, ride for a bit, nap, ride a bit more then visit with spectators, ride a while longer, nap again... OK, you get my drift ;)

(uh, that video is sped-up, right??? I mean, folks don't really go that fast between trees....do they?!?!? <gulp>)

So your flying flood planes now, that's really great Timmy! My Uncle flew a Fire Plane and was always the first responder to go in when the forest fires flared up like they always do every year in the in the Florida Everglades. My Aunt always said he was flying on something but as a kid I never understood what she meant. I knew when they start talking about WireFryer flying that it HAD to be about something other that dirtbikes, of course. So you've been in the flood plane a long time? Maybe try a crop duster, they have a lot more torque in the engine compartment than a flood plane and some even have unlimited vertical.

I do know that spending too much time in a flood plane can cause headaches because of the low head room clearances - it's better to take breaks more often Tim.
