Merwin race news!!

#1 Post by Iamdanjohnson » Wed Sep 21, 2016 4:39 pm

Merwin is a very unique event thanks to the owner of Midwest Extreme Park. The weekend is never the usual stuff so I thought I would get some more information out there for all of you. Please pass the word to others.

Saturday the MX track will be open for practice from 9:00am to 2:00pm. The cost to ride this is $25. The hare scramble loop will not be open during this time as it will likely still be under construction.

Starting at about 3:00pm to 6:00pm the hare scramble loop will be open to ride and the cost will be $10 per rider. During this time the MX track will be closed as they will be prepping the track for Sunday and it will have equipment on there. The hare scramble trail will loop back alongside the track to keep riders off of the MX track.

I still need to discuss this with the owner but I believe if you pay the $25 for MX practice you can later ride the hare scramble loop. The $10 fee is for those who want to only ride the hare scramble loop and arrive later.

This has more fees than a typical weekend but this is an MX facility and requires a lot more work than just a farm holding a hare scramble.

The water slide will be open from 3:00pm to 6:00pm.

One small change from usual is there is a camping fee of $5 the night before the event. At the MX races the usual charge is $10. You will be paying your gate fee when you enter on Sunday as usual or on Saturday if you plan to stay. The gate fee is still $5 but I would mention that for the MX races the cost is usually $10.

There will be concessions both days.

The race day format is on the home page and it is our regular schedule. It is not possible for us to do the Scramblecross format and then use it for season points. Believe me I have tried to figure something out because I like that variation in our season. I might mention that I am considering doing a non points race with the Scramblecross format at some point.

Peewee racers this is one of our most fun tracks as it is a tiny MX track. Once the peewee race is over the little bikes will have to be put away as the hare scramble course will use one small part of the PW track. This is the case on Saturday afternoon after 3:00pm as well.

We will have cool plaques for the top three for sure and may be able to go a few positions past that.

Will this be a live engine start on the starting gate?

Sweet! a Rodeo start!
The saddest sound in all MotorSports is the noise the drivetrain makes as you slowly coast to a complete stop.
