What class for first race for 11 year old?

Hello all. I have read the info for peewees and junior class and I am still not sure what class my son should ride in for his first race. He is 11 years old and rides a klx110L. He is an experienced rider who has ridden in Colorado and Arkansas trail systems. He thinks the hour race may be too long but i don't want him to be too big for the big bike class in the pee wee race. Any recommendations? Thanks so much. Chris

Do both. If he kills them in the PW class then he will know not to run it again. Then he can just ride one lap at a time on the big race and stop when he is ready. Split race so and an easy course to ride so this is the one to try the big race.

I like Dan's answer. He will gain confidence in peewees. The jr class will build endurance and challenge him. He will be wanting to race for two hours by the time summer gets here.

A split race format gives him some breathing room between heats. We keep an eye out for our young-ins so let him go as far as he has an appetite for.
