Track walk 8:15 am reveals a log turn which we hadn't seen before. Then because of complaints about the speeds too fast at Ontario, they make a log matrix that caused Taddy to go to the LCQ. The firewood has never been an issue except this time they made it a turn. The rest was typical EX stuff. First practice was slow but Collin held position. The next practice was timed for gate pick. Collin passed a lot of very fast riders that were laying on the ground. Although not as fast, he was able to get third out of the twelve in his heat.
He continued to watch the riders try riding through the logs to figure a better way, besides crashing.
First heat race he takes the inside line and is side by side for first. The log corner was slick, Collin went wide and the other rider slid out and taking Collin out and going to tenth. He got up, fell in the log matrix and kept passing people, working his way to 4th.

They only take the top two the the main so off to the LCQ. It is then we realize that half the riders in our heat are trying to qualify as pros. Great start, get out front, and the matrix kicks his butt again. He falls to third and gets in the zone, stalking his prey. They are only taking one. He keeps them in site and as they finish the first lap, out comes the white flag? Crap, wait, 1 and 2 are hung in the matrix. First good pass through the logs for the day buys him the lead. He stays up and gets an invite to the main event during the evening show.

So the afternoon track walk is with names like Brown, Wedd, Abbott, and girls Bykerk and Forsley. We didn't know about the afternoon hot laps and got out in time for one lap.
Main Event is stacked with Collin having to start on the back row, rode into the first turn passing 4 bikes, but they took him out in the second corner. Gets one lap in ahead of a couple racers. Back into the matrix for the last time for the night. Hung up, falls to his right twists a knee and jacks the controls on the right side. Medics carry him out.
He is ok and the experience was awesome.
