300 XC Colorado Jetting

Going to Taylor Park for the first time in a long while with a 2-stroke. I know there are many on here who ride 300's and some of you all have had to go out to Colorado. Does anyone know what main jet and needle clip position work best out there?

Looks like the manual is calling for a different needle (N2ZL) and a slightly smaller main jet - 162. (Stock is the N2ZK needle with a 165 main jet). Does that sound correct?

Thanks in advance! 8)

Can't help with the jetting. 740 and I went to Taylor on the big 530s. I know Jeff Slavens has done extensive testing up there on the 300. If the info isn't on his website you could give him a call (719.475.2624). I've heard of guys using the jetting guides in the back of the manual with good results. Jeff has his own thoughts about high altitude jetting. He's seen his share of guys frying their motors up there. Have a great time! Taylor res is such a fun place. Do you have an aftermarket tank? We had some crazy long days out there.

Hi Jeremy-

what works for me on my twofiddies: Drop the main one size for every 3,000', open the airscrew about a 1/2 turn, bump the idle up. Anytime I've futzed with the needle I've lost throttle response- I run the same needle and clip position that I do on the plains (not stock tho).

Yep, most go bug nutz leaning them way out, even the JDJetting shtuff is way lean.

Have fun!
