Hello people I just got a ktm 250 exc and am considering coming out and getting in your way next season . I I've got some bike work to do over the winter and was wondering what mod restrictions there are in this circuit. I just hate to sink money into a bike to find out I can't run it.

This series is base on the riders ability and not the bike size or modifications, its about the Indian not the arrow. So mod away until your hearts content or your wallets dry.

Ok hate to keep asking stupid questions but I'm trying to get everything in order over the winter, I've looked all over the site (and I probably overlooked it ) but what is required as far as safety gear? I haven't had a bike since high school so I have to get everything.

Get top of the line boots knee braces and a good helmet..

A good "Chest Protector" with shoulder guards/pads and some sort of neck support. I wear the Fly Convertible chest protector and the EVS R3 collar. Both are affordable and functional in my opinion and have done thier job for me a time or 2. LETKO KTM in Olathe carriers both and I think Perry give FMHSC guys a discount.

The older I get the more I appreciate a neck brace. I think it may have actually done me a favor more than once.

Knee guards versus knee braces are more a matter of how solid (or not) your knees are now. If you're healthy, just good wrap around guards are ok. That's what I've switched back to after using braces before.

Helmets have gone full circle. You can get a pretty safe helmet for less than $200 nowdays and lots to chose from; but fit and weight and preference can help you spend up to $400 quickly. Then, there are the new line of headwear coming; like the 6d. Truely safer I bet; but for many too spendy running $500 to $700, I think.

It's all just rolling the dice anyway, right?
At some point, you're gonna drag bottom and scrape your "paint".

Go find a friendly retailer, give them some love and a sale and just go be happy (and safe).
(and don't show the wife the receipts cause she won't think you are worth that much protection )

Awesome Mark! I use my mad money account so my wife does not know what I really spend. Although I'm sure she realizes it is more than she wishes I did!

I also do the wrap around knee / shin guards. I have always had good knees so I don't worry about a brace. I also like a fairly high end helmet. Gotta protect the noggin! I have been real happy with my Fly F2.

Beyond that about the only thing you can do is not ride and that aint gonna happen!
