I'm just wondering if we will race Big Springs even if the weather forecast comes true?

Ah. What's a few raindrops on your helmet?
(says the guy that put on the mudder last weekend)

How often is a race called due to weather? Or does it depend on the location?

It all depends on the situation. The location has a lot to do with it:
*if the parking lot cannot handle rain (which most parking areas cannot since they are fields) and we get a lot of rain you can expect the race to be cancelled. Can't hold a race if no one can get in-to or out-of the lot.
*if the race location soil type is not conducive to running in muddy conditions, expect the race to be cancelled
*if there are not multiple lines available in adverse conditions, expect the race to be cancelled. Can't run a single 6 mile rut multiple laps for 2 hours.
The land has a lot to do with it, most promoters don't mind running a race in the rain but it's got to make sense to do it. Can't ruin a race site for years (deep mud ruts tend to stick around) just to run one race. Just some things to consider when thinking of what goes into cancelling a race. It's a lot of pressure on the promoter to make the right call, and our series generally gets it right.
