1000 Class start order IMPORTANT INFO
I am trying to make things better on race day and we have had some real congestion between the 1000 class and 800 class that I haven't been able to solve as well as I would like.
In 2016 we are going to try starting the 1000 class behind the 500 class. I intend to start 1000 class only 30 seconds after the 500's. This is going to have you in the 1-5 race so this may cause some confusion at some point but I hope to eliminate that if possible. I worry that someone is going to show up too late for their race. On the rare one race days, I will put the 1000 class behind the 800 class.
The biggest possible problem with this is the fact that the 1000 class is going to certainly be lapped for the last part of their race. It is CRITICAL that the 1000 riders understand that they can greatly change the outcome of the race for several classes if they don't allow those faster riders by immediately. I don't like the fact that the 1000 riders are now going to have to look over their shoulder for the last part of the race but I think this inconvenience is outweighed by the clear track they get to race on. I may end up having to use a different class starting behind the 500 class unless all of you 1000 riders make this work well.
AA riders don't need much room, they just need you to hold your line and they will get by you. This is pretty much true for all classes that may catch you.
Another important point is that I don't want to see any 1000 rider taking advantage of another 1000 rider moving over when they are being lapped. DO NOT take advantage of this situation! Wait and make your pass on your own after the fast riders get by.
I have thought of shortening the 1000 race to 90 minutes to help eliminate some of this lapping but most 1000 riders have told me they want the entire 2 hours.
I can easily change this to using the 600 or 700 class behind the 500's but I think this solution best solves the congestion issues we are having in those middle classes. I also think that the character of the 1000 riders makes them best suited to count on them all to be out of the way and make this work well. I may end up moving the races back to the old order but putting two minutes in between those congested classes.
It is up to you 1000 riders to make this thing work out. Please make sure you talk to your fellow 1000 riders and make sure everyone is aware. My intention is to remind everyone right on the line as well. If I forget, go ahead and yell it out when the 15 second board is up and it is nice and quiet.

While this will be an interesting experiment in restructuring, I personally think it will work out just fine.... with the exception of the odd non-Series fast guy that blows in for one race and uses his mouth to force a bad pass.
As a group, we crafty Vets don't want you fast movers behind us anymore than you want us in front of you, so a speedy pass makes everyone happy..., but understand one thing.
If you catch us in the tight stuff, don't expect us to wreck or climb a tree just to get out of your way, we know you're back there and will find a wide spot for ya to squeak by on

The saddest sound in all MotorSports is the noise the drivetrain makes as you slowly coast to a complete stop.

What would you consider tight stuff. ATV width? Here we go again admitting that you hold people up again. Stop saying that hold up stuff. Did you forget the whole discussion we Vet racers had to listen to and read about last year. I will say no more.

Perhaps there is some confusion with Young Eric....
I show up on the starting line on one of the noisy Orange thingies'.... the Individual ( note' Capitalization out of Respect for the Man who gives NO Quarter, and expects none ) you are referring to, shows up on the line on a noisy Blue thingie.
You are unfortunately mistaking me for someone else, and that happens....
It'll be all right...

Not a mistake. Just didn't want the conversation to get out of hand again.

If your not going to move over untill you you find a " nice wide spot" It wont end well. Those first couple of rows dont mess around.

Exactly... Im gonna be one of the slow ones in the faster race this year, and i can always find a place to get out of the way when a serious guy is comin up on me, as soon as i hear some yelling comin up on me i'm getting out of the way... its part of it and pretty cool to be a part of imo, we get to race with some bada** riders. My bark busters can always make a spot to get off the trail if it really is "too tight" to let someone go by

Thanks Dan; Believe everything you said to be spot on. The last thing anyone would want to do is change the outcome of a race because we got IN the way.
I think the two min. between classes worked well in 2014. Also good move putting the 800’s back in front of the 1000’s.
No need for the kids to holler you can hear them coming, pull over and stop if your in a tricky spot. I think if you don’t you will wish you had. If a 1000 rider trains on to the fast guys to gain position, then shame on them. Like Dan said.
