Walter's Ranch Race Report

Hat's off to the land owner & Mark Shafer's crew putting the race together. Mark, Dan & the gang had to dump tons of time, effort & gas $'s over the last few weeks getting it ready. I don't think a lot of folks realize what a PIA it is to cut fresh trail and lay out a good course, not to mention set up, tear down, etc, etc.. been helping Matt with Montrose and it's a huge task. A lot of time effort and $ go into just getting the course ready and it is greatly appreciated. Thank you guys!
On to the report...
A splendid day for racing the School of Rock. Note to self: Don't wear blue tinted lenses that match blue rock otherwise it makes for a fun day not seeing those pretty rock formations + providing several epic "OH @#@$? moments.
Hit the electric love buton & bike fired right away. Throttle on & seemed to have a good start...looked Like Ryan Walker was hole shotting until his unblieveable traction caused a sweet superman wheelie that could not be contained & off he went right in front of me. Epic moment #1, and God bless the Brembo's otherwise he might have left on that helicopter flying around. Luckily was able to avoid him ...scary indeed. After that, not really sure what position I went into the sticks. Lap 1 was interesting bouncing off the unseen rocks and passing a few folks and getting passed myself by Ryan Walker . Chased Todd for a bit as he went wide in a corner, got the pass. Epic Moment #2; found Spooner dancing between boulders so followed him for a bit, then he went down hard...it looked bad & I went down too slowing to ask if he was ok. He waived me on. Hope you're ok. My transponder wasn't reading thru scoring so I didn't know where I was. The rest of the race transponder had me in first but knew that wasn't right unless the gang in front of me had troubles. When corrected at the end ended up 6th overall with 3rd overall in the FM points chase
Thanks again everyone,
Gcat
