Merwin news?

Anyone know the latest on Merwin? Heard rumor the place was sold? Will the woods still be open to ride on weekends?

This is from the Wohlberg family today on the MO State MX site -

"Currently Merwin will only be open to the public for riding on the 5 race weekends that are scheduled down there. We will also have the harescramble in September. That is where we are for this season."

Good to see them open for the scheduled 2012 races.

Looks like everything else is a no go for now.

That's a bummer... I was thinking of heading down there this afternoon (was checking on here to see if it was open)....

Are there any other good places to ride around here?? I don't really like Perry or Deepwater that much due to quad infestation... and Milford is too far away. Is Carbondale still open for public riding on a semi-regular basis?

Merwin was a great place to race and ride.

Motocross track, woods riding and many other reasons to go.

It's a big bummer to see that at this point it will close after the 2012 season.

I'll try to dig up some old race/ride photos and post them next week.

We will still be running races and practices on race weekends for the next 5 years and beyond, the only change is there will not be practice weekends like in the past. We will pick up the slack by doing more Kingsville practices.

We will still be having our Forward Motion races, hopefully for many years to come.
