Who has a blaster and paint setup - earn a couple easy bucks

#1 Post by Pumpkinpatch » Thu Mar 29, 2012 9:02 pm

OK.
Dawned on me that we have a pro pipe fixer in the ranks (yeah, props to Darin / Heavy D).
Do we have anyone with a sand/media blaster and paint setup?

My little poor-boy three rail trailer needs a paint job .... BAD.
Not looking for show quality. Just a quick blast and some nice Allis Chalmers (KTM) tractor paint (ok, Massey Ferguson / Honda red would do too...even boring old trailer black). Thinking the durable tractor paint I remember as a kid growing up in Iowa.

Anyone out there want a small (cash deal) project this weekend? or next? or the next? Anyone? Bueller.....Bueller?
I live in Shawnee. Will deliver trailer, strip wiring and take wheels off and you go nuts. I'll pick up, put wheels on and get it out of your hair. Get the idea?

I am hoping to have it blasted and painted more or less same time. I don't know what the best way to get it blasted are and haven't checked into renting something.
Do you have a place to do shoot the paint on if I can get it prepped?
And, would you be able to help me estimate how much paint and where to get the supplies?
I'm a bit of a newbie at it; except for plain old spray can painting.

Just did mine after I extended the tounge for a 4th rail. I have sand blaster, compressor and special primer for rust.
Nason paint with hardner.

Sure, I have not seen your trailer, but we could sand and sandblast what we need to and bulldog the rest. Softens old paint for adhesion without sanding which is near impossible on a trailer. Then prime if needed with a rust treatment primer, and paint with Nason paint. Cheap, but good enough for a trailer, same thing Maaco uses basically. Saturday and Sunday project or less. I was looking at the tie system for the receiver motorcycle carriers and didn't like them and made our own secure system. Howie, HGP rider had a bike fall off because of that system. The ramp sits under the boomer and is supported and held down by it, still working on this. There are 2 two inch square tubes set at a 45 degree angle that the chain goes through and the chain has a curved radiator hose protecting the rims and the boomer tightens both rims down at the same time and will actually hold the bike by it's self and the you strap the front. Bike does not move and will have a padlock on the boomer, anti theft. :D
