Re: Carbondale Results?
I have the final results tabulated and working on a PDF file that will show all the particulars involved. Computer wise I'm pretty ignorant. This is new to me and I'm having to learn as I go. It may take me awhile but it "will" get posted. thanks for your patience, Paul D

Thanks for the update Paul. I really enjoyed the course and the format. I wouldn't want that format for every race, however, when it is hot and dusty, I thought the format was perfect!

Re: Carbondale Results?
I guess I'll jump in and answer a few questions. The format was basically a time trial format. At the starting gate, riders were put the order of their current speed percentile for the season. The race started with the AA guys with each person getting the flag at 20 second intervals. After the first lap, which was about 25 to 30 minutes depending on the rider, everyone went back to the pits. After about a ten minute break, the riders were re-ordered based on their previous lap time and re-started in 20 second intervals. After the second lap, there was another 10 minute break and we lined up based on the cumulative of the two laps. However, this time we were given 30 second gaps based on some rider feedback.
There were some pros and cons to this format, however, as dusty as it was, I really think this was the only viable option. For me, it really felt more like a motocross race with three 30 minute motos and a brief amount of time between each one. It was nice to grab some food and water between the laps and to cool down a little bit. I also felt like, since everyone knew they only had to do one lap, that the intensity level was quite a bit higher than usual.
When all was said and done, it broke down like this;
Race started at 11:00am
Race ended right around 1:30pm ( 2 and a half hours)
My computer said that I rode three laps at about 28 minutes each ( 1 hour 24 minutes of riding)
My computer said that each lap was 7.9 miles (23.7 miles of riding)
Hope that helps a bit,
Michael

Re: Carbondale Results?
I liked the format but don't see how it could possibly work with our average number of racers at like 150. There were about 40 and it seemed like a long day! I think it is a great non points race to do to help bring friends and beginners into the series, it would be much less intimidating and now worries about lapped or anything like that! It's a great idea just don't see how it would work with close to 4x the amount of riders!
