M6x 75mm for Crf450x

#1 Post by FosTerH0ME » Thu Apr 07, 2016 8:32 am

Anyone know where I can pick up a M6 x 75mm hex flanged bolt for the oil cover on a crf450x in north KC, Smithville, Leavenworth area? I am going to try Advantage Powersports once they are open but if someone has a better idea I would appreciate the insight! With an infant at home and a full weekend of riding planned I can't spend a lot of time driving around looking for it and I won't have time to call around from work today.

Backstory: Oil cover bolt broke in half while trying to torque to a whopping 12Nm (9 ft lbs) last night after an oil change. Both pieces came out without incident thankfully and I was using the smallest torque wrench I own. I never even got close to the torque spec.

Thanks for the help and hopefully the bike will be ready for Virgil Sunday!! If not then I will be on an old beaten KDX...

Found the correct one at Fastenal on the ride home! Torqued to spec and good to go now!

Give Donnell's Motorcycles a try, I know they are not near Smithville, but they should have that bolt in stock.

If you are having trouble finding it at a dealership, check out an auto parts store or a bolt store.

I did the same thing. I went to ACE Hardware. Found a metric bolt and bought extra flat washers since the bolt was too long. I have later ordered an OEM bolt. Next oil change I will swap them out. That reminds me I need to change the oil. It's been a least ten races and five play days.

I like to keep my bike above water unlike, you know who.
