Hi,
I have 2006 KTM 250 XC-W.
CDI went out, so I got a used OEM replacement one from a wrecked 2010 KTM 250 XC, included the wiring harness.
I know my original CDI from 2006 (548 390 31000R) didn't support a MAP switch.
But the new CDI i bought (548 390 31600) and its original harness supports the MAP switch, as it has the extra bullet connector that you split if you want to add the MAP switch.
The new CDI and harness plug directly into my 2K-2 stator plug, so it basically plug-n-play for my 2006 to update it to 2010 CDI and harness. With the update to 2010 CDI, is it worth it to add the MAP switch to the handlebars? Simple enough for me to do when I install the new harness and CDI, but I assume it will work fine with my 2006 250 XC-W engine? I don't think it cares, but thought I would run it by the technical mechanic members on here.
And if everyone says add the MAP switch, what exactly does it do? enough of a change to feel it in the seat? higher revs? etc??? anyone have one on their bike?
thanks!
Jason
Can I run a MAP switch on my bike? Any advantage?
