Blackjack Enduro 10/1

#1 Post by Iamdanjohnson » Wed Sep 20, 2017 7:55 am

The race is at Hardwood Hills Ranch and the terrain is like Chadwick back when there were no quads to ruin it! Definitely rocky, rough and tight by our series standards. I highly recommend you race this one. The property is private and unless you have a membership you can only ride there on race weekends. The landowner sent out a club email and I will paste it below. I think it does a good job explaining what happens for the weekend...

Hello! Things are getting busy at HHR. September 30 is the Hardwood Pee Wee Enduro, followed by the Hillbilly GP banquet and awards that evening. The next day, October 1, is the 50th Hardwood Enduro.

All are welcome to attend the Hillbilly banquet and awards. Dinner is pulled pork sandwich, corn on the cob, green beans with bacon and potatoes, cobbler ala mode and a drink. Cost is just $10/person.

If you have never ridden an enduro, you really need to. An enduro is a series of tests (sprints) against the clock. The tests will vary in length between 5 and 10 miles. The times are added up and the least total time wins. There are breaks between tests. Some riders like enduros more than hare scrambles because you get some time to relax and refresh before starting the next test. There is a lot more riding and the trails are usually more technical than a hare scramble.

If you are planning on riding the Ozark 100 Miler, there will be no better practice or training you can do than riding the Hardwood Enduro! Same trails!

Go to www.blackjackenduro.org to pre-enter. When you pre-enter, it will ask you to select a row. There are four riders to a row, and a row starts every minute. Long course riders must sign up on row 30 or less. Long course riders (B riders and above) will ride six tests. Short course riders must sign up on row 35 or less. Short course riders (C riders and senior riders) will ride four tests. Extra short course riders (youth and women) will ride two tests and must sign up on row 40 or less. As the race progresses, the tests will get longer and more technical. Pre-entry ends September 24th and saves you $5.

At HHR, a good rule of thumb is the faster you are, the earlier a row number you want. Slower riders on an early row might find themselves losing time pulling over for faster riders, and faster riders on a late row might find themselves losing time trying to pass slower riders. You can ride on the same row with friends or family that are not in your class. www.blackjackenduro.org has a list of classes and other information.
