Great weather for the race. Paul had the course in prime form barring greasy spots race one, race two was hero traction with except for a few Wesson Oil corners. I thank him for all his efforts and those who got the race ready. Thank you gang!
On to the report.
I was little under the weather for the race start, so I wasn't sure how this day would turn out + Paul was out of Dramamine to help straighten out all his twists & turns . The 700 club had the usual fine souls lined up with a few fresh old faces but missing Gordo. Board drops and got my typical crappy start maybe 10th or so into the first corner. Avoided the turn one mess and went wide into turn two. Luckily that was the line and picked it up to 5th or so. Pretty good lap one with lots a good passing and ended up in a surprising second thru scoring.
Stayed in second lap 2 and went down on a Wesson OIl spot thru a corner. Bike spun completely around with leg fully planted, a sweet pirouette a-la Nadia Comaneci (less tights of course), the ol 'sack screamed in agony for an ass landing. 7 of 10 from the Judges but sure I heard Charlie Sheen scream; Winning! Anyway, scrapped up the family jewels off the dirt and continued 2nd thru lap 2.
Lap 3 apparently I was in first at one point-- my boy Ryan Walker & I decided to see if two bikes can fit into a fast sweeper. Well they don't...Carbondale pie for me went and down hard. Shook off the dust and still managed 2nd for lap 3. Lap 4 was interesting, was clipping along pretty good, when the 720 bike blew by me...WTF is that & crossed 3rd lap 4 after briefly stopping to see if my rad guards still worked. Got to say was a little disappointed dropping a place but finally caught our familiar face 720-Chris Walline. Yes Chris is always fast and yes he ran out gas or so I heard ... wasn't surprised when they told me who it was, he's fast. I crossed lap 5 for a 2nd place finish.
It's been a fun season so far but congrats to Ryan Walker who I believe locked up the #1 spot in the 700 Class this year.

Re: Carbondale Race report
This was a great course. The rain made for perfect track conditions with a few slick spots thrown in just to keep things interesting. There was a new hill to climb that I thought for sure would be a bottleneck spot but it never was when I went thru there.
We had a great turnout in the 10 class with 23 riders. And after the start, guess what spot I was in? That's right, 23rd. The board drops and I kick....nothing. I kick and kick...still not starting....until Dan comes over and turns my gas on. Talk about feeling like a bonehead. Man!
I passed 7 guys on the first lap, 5 more on lap 2 and got one more on lap 3 which brought me up to 10th place. But my legs were starting to cramp so I go into the pits to get a big drink of water. (I know....I should just wear a camel bak.) By the time I go thru scoring I am now in 15th. What! Five guys passed me while I was in the pits? Now I'm mad and I know it's the last lap so I put my head down to see how many of those five I can catch. Well I caught the first one right away but it took me a while to pass him due to pulling over a few times to let some fast guys thru. When I finally got around 1043 I only saw daylight ahead. I tried to keep my pace up. Someone has to be up there. I didn't catch the next one until right at the finish line where 1014 was parked right under the scanner. Hey Troy, don't you know that's a no parking zone?

Re: Carbondale Race report
Carbondale race report, personal report? Attempt to explain to Brett why I was parked at scoring!
Race: Best conditions ever, Mid pack racing with Jim, so much fun. Bike ran better then I deserve. Seen some cool stuff in the pits, like a 1970’s half ton ford, rolling with a diesel motor. Oh and made it back home safe.
Personal: I think this is the first year that I’ve been healthy since my first race in 2015 at big springs. Broken leg, Torn ACL, Heart attack. (All happened while riding by the way). I celebrated my 30 year wedding anniversary at Carbondale. I’m truly blessed, my only wife requirement is I can’t go to the races by myself and I have to wear that full body armor suit. So if your having chest pains at the races look me up I’m packing nitro.
Parked at scoring: I’m the absolute worst at race management, I found myself hollering at the kid holding a checked flag “is it over, is the race over, is this it? Of course he was polite and said yes the race is over. But what he should have said was, “crazy old man I’m holding a checked flag, what do you think?” And my bike stalled.
In closing: Never follow 1014, he always takes the slowest line, not just one time but every time. Don’t sweat the small stuff, if you’re out riding it’s a GOOD DAY. Thanks to all that volunteer to make these races happen. Looking forward to last two races.
