Ditto on that sore body, I felt like I got hit by a truck when I got home after the race but much better today. I got passed by about 8 of the 1 thru 5 riders, I think mostly 1 thru 3's. The track was such that you could almost always find a place to move over and I quickly did. Four of them actually yelled "Thank You!" as they passed. A nice display of Hare Scramble decorum I thought. I only managed an 11th out of 18 but had a lot of fun for an old guy. The Melvern track is great and was marked perfectly. There were alot of course workers (I guess) at various places watching which was probably a good thing from a safety standpoint. One thing I might add is there was what appeared to be part of an exposed concrete block structure in one of the rocky sections that could be pretty painful if you crashed and landed on it's exposed edges. Maybe throw some old tires or a couple hay bales on top of it might be a good idea. Overall a very well run race so hats off to the land owners, and all involved in setting up the course and running the race.

With the perfect weather it was a great day to be in the woods on a dirt bike.

report from the 1K's

Hat's off to the land owners and everyone who put effort into this race-thank you!. It really showed and it's one of my favorite fast tracks. Although we have one more race, I'm voting Melvern RACE OF THE YEAR.

On to the report:
With point standings on the line, just about everyone came out for the 1k club race. Lined up again next to the usual crew and when the board dropped. Capt;n Hole-shot Weimer said: See ya! Nobody ever saw him again that day-he was on rails and was not to be denied #1 overall. :-) Back to reality, I got bumped in the first corner and kicked wide but still had throttle on. Went into turn two maybe in 3rd then Pooof, Flame out coming out of the corner. Awe @#@#! but god bless the rekluse and the electric love button... kept rolling and re-fired & went into the sticks 5th maybe. Was running on someone's wheel the entire lap until he whiskey throttled out of a creek rise like a steel-cage circus cycle & off he went. Slide into 4th behind Schupp thru scoring ...into endurocross Jason passed up the double and I went Evil Knievel - Caesar's Palace style - into 3rd. Finally chased down and pushed the 1051 bike hard that lap. We had a damn good race but he let me by 3/4 thru the lap into second I went and stayed.

I thought for sure I'd catch Capt'n hole-shot & went through scoring, I yelled @ Gordo..."Where the hell is Shane?" His reply..."2 minutes!". First thought; NO #@$@#$ way then laughed my ass off and tried to catch him but that didn't happen. Ol' Hole-shot destroyed the class that day, nice job Shane. Way to finish on top for the year!
